Heavy vehicles will soon have a wider and safer access for the Quanda Road Industrial Estate west of Coolum.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said that construction would commence later this year to enable the current B-double route between the Sunshine Motorway and Corbould Road to be extended through to Quanda Road, upgrading a missing link in the logistics chain. This means that trucks won’t have to break their loads prior to travelling into the estate and will boost business connectivity.
Ms Simpson said that she had asked a Question in Parliament last year about when the road would be widened to provide safer access for heavy vehicles to the industrial estate.
“I am pleased to hear the announcement from the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) that the work has gone out to tender and construction is expected to be completed by the middle of next year,” Ms
Simpson said.
“TMR has advised that early works to clear vegetation and relocate services were carried out in March and that the tender for the construction of the project closes on 11 August 2016.”
