Fiona Simpson has a strong track record of delivering for the Sunshine Coast, with a focus on building safer, stronger, and more connected communities. Through her advocacy, the region has seen significant investment in local schools, road safety upgrades, police resources, and essential infrastructure. From supporting major projects like the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and key transport improvements, to backing local sporting clubs, parks, and community facilities, Fiona has worked to ensure the Maroochydore electorate continues to grow and thrive.

Her commitment extends to supporting families, seniors, and vulnerable residents, as well as protecting the natural environment through conservation and park upgrades. Ministrial Achievements

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Cancer services on the Coast – Fiona successfully lobbied for public access for Sunshine Coast cancer patients to local treatment, saving thousands of patient trips to Brisbane.
  • State-wide flashing school lights program – Fiona developed this LNP policy as Shadow Transport Minister which was rolled out under the LNP State Government, making school zones safer.
  • As Shadow Transport minister, Fiona drove the introduction of the Alcohol Ignition Interlocks bill as a private member’s bill to Parliament to crackdown on drunk drivers. Fiona’s bill forced the Government to introduce its own law.
  • Random drug testing for drivers – Fiona’s policy initiative to target drug-affected drivers with random drug testing was adopted by a former Government and introduced into law.

OTHER LOCAL ACHIEVEMENTS

  • A better learning environment for our kids with $8.98 million funding for schools and early childhood centres
  • Our waterways are safer thanks to the better search and rescue abilities of our new $3.2 million water police vessel
  • Our police resources are boosted with the new $2.7 million Police Station for the Coolum and Maroochy North Shore area
  • Safer roads with $21 million for local safety upgrades
  • The power network was enhanced with $68 million invested in upgrades servicing the Maroochydore Electorate
  • Sporting clubs such as Maroochydore Swans Rugby Union Club are kicking goals with much needed new changing rooms
  • Two very popular local parks have had upgrades with $434,740 spent at Mt Coolum National Park and Maroochy River Conservation Park
  • Local arts and entertainment is being boosted with $700,000 to progress plans for a new Entertainment and Exhibition Facility in the new Maroochydore CBD
  • Elderly parents caring for disabled adult children received extra help with $600,000 boost
  • Duplication of the Maroochy River Bridge

  • Successfully lobbied for the building of the new Sunshine Coast Water Police station on Mooloolaba Spit
  • Expanded Yinneburra Conservation Park at Point Arkwright
  • Permanent dredging facility for the Mooloolaba Harbour Entrance to improve safety and beach replenishment
