Further rehabilitation works on Maroochydore Road are to continue thanks to an additional $5 million in funding from the Queensland Government, Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson announced today.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson has campaigned for these much-needed repairs to be extended to include additional sections of this vital road following the completion of recent works.
Work is due to start this financial year on resurfacing a 1 km section of the eastbound lanes between the Sunshine Motorway and Jones Road.
In addition to this, a further $5 million has been allocated for urgent rehabilitation works on other sections of Maroochydore Road. Priority sections for these works are currently being investigated.
This funding is in addition to the resurfacing and sub-surface drainage works on the section between the Main Road/Grieg Street intersection and Sunshine Homemaker Centre which have just been completed, costing $3.2 million.
Ms Simpson said traffic volumes in the area, combined with wet weather events have contributed to the further decline of the road’s surface.
“I am delighted that funding has been made available for these vital resurfacing works to continue on further sections of this important road,” Ms Simpson said.
