I welcome news of a Japanese company’s plans to inject up to $120 million a year into our local economy to build a new luxury resort and residential development at Yaroomba.
The proposed “Living with Nature” Development will be the first significant new hotel on the Sunshine Coast in recent times. If approved, the proposal for a luxury resort with a separate residential component would represent a huge investment into the local economy which would be
great news for local jobs – both during construction and when the hotel is operational.
Sekisui House specialise in wood and timber frame homes, with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability. The proposal, which involves a hotel and residential development, is expected to go to Council soon and will be subject to strict environmental guidelines to ensure the dunes are protected.
Tourism is one of the Queensland economy’s four pillars and is extremely important to the Sunshine Coast. The State Government is committed to doubling Queensland’s annual overnight visitor expenditure to $30 billion by 2020. Securing more international tourists to the Sunshine Coast is critical to growing local jobs.
