I was delighted to have the opportunity to speak at a community meeting held at the Sunshine Coast Airport hosted by the North Shore Residents and Traders Associations and the Marcoola Progress Association in February.
Councillors Jason OPray and Stephen Robinson, Sunshine Coast Airport CEO at myself were questioned about the Sunshine Coast Airport Expansion Project and other local issues.
The Sunshine Coast Airport is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Airport Expansion Project, which includes a new east-west runway. The EIS will review the social, economic and environmental impacts of the expansion project and the findings will be submitted for state and federal government assessment.
I believe the Airport Expansion Project is crucial to the future growth of the Sunshine Coast economy and I am encouraging members of the community to find out more information about the project and have their say.
The draft EIS will be on public display during May/June 2013 and the government will consider public views and opinions as part of the EIS assessment.
