Time to give a shout-out to the community-hearted people who give of their time as volunteers to help people, the environment and wildlife.
Next week is National Volunteer Week and it’s a great way to acknowledge those volunteers who are so important to our community success in so many ways and areas.
Volunteers are the backbone of many Queensland communities, however, the State of Volunteering in Queensland 2024 Report has revealed a decline in volunteering under the Palaszczuk-Miles Government.
The LNP has confirmed we will hold a Parliamentary Inquiry into Breaking Down Barriers to Volunteering, if elected in October. We are committed to empowering Queensland volunteers whose tireless efforts contribute to the vibrant heart of our communities.
If you are thinking about volunteering I recommend that you get in touch with Volunteering Sunshine Coast (www.volunteeringsc.org.au) who can provide a wealth of information about the opportunities. Thy have contact with more than 100 member organisations across all sectors of the community.
Volunteering can also expand your skills and provide you a new network of contacts and friends whilst giving back to the community. So many organisations would not operate without their valued volunteers.
