We have seen a record budget blowout confirmed of $2.8 billion in the 2021-22 Financial Year by the State Labor Government. That is significant money and there is much waste in the way that this government goes about its budgeting.
The Treasurer’s budget fail is a major blow for Queensland Taxpayers – the 2021-22 Financial Year’s expenditure was about six times more than what was accrued in the prior financial year. The overspend of funds allocated was accrued by 14 State Departments and agencies, which has been brushed under the mat as if it is just minor petty cash.
This is the worst budget blowout in a decade that was due to ‘unforeseen expenditure’. This is not good enough, these funds could have funded the heavy rail to Maroochydore or used towards Health, which interestingly was not one of the department overspends.
Furthermore, more waste has been seen by this State Labor Government spending $1 million on social media posts and television ads to promote itself and attempt to repair its image. If this Government didn’t continue to fail Queensland and Queenslander’s they wouldn’t need to spend this money.
The Government’s failure to plan is costing Queenslander’s immensely with lack of housing, failing health system, more taxes – list goes on.
Queenslander’s deserve better.
