I am celebrating news of a win for road safety along a busy section of theYandina-Coolum Road with members of the Yandina Creek and Coolum Beach Christian College community.
In response to concerns raised by the local community, I have been campaigning to have speed limit reduced from 100km/h to 80 km/h on the section between the Toolborough Road and Quanda Road intersections.
The Speed Limit Review Committee has now recommended a lower speed limit to improve safety in this area and new speed limit signage is expected to be in place by the end of August.
A lower speed limit will improve safety for school traffic turning into and exiting out of Arcoona Road where the visibility is poor.
The road also narrows considerably between Arcoona Road and Quanda Road and there is no room for error here with no hard shoulder and deep drains on either side of the road, so it’s important for vehicles to slow down.
This road is becoming busier and busier as the Coolum/Yandina area grows and expands and I agree with local residents that reducing the speed limit will help keep people safer on this stretch of the road.
