There will be smiles on thousands more faces this Christmas, thanks to the generous donations of shoppers supporting Kmart’s Wishing Tree Appeal.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson launched the 2015 Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal at Sunshine Plaza today with the help of the Salvation Army Choir.
Ms Simpson said the Wishing Tree Appeal, now in it’s 27th year, is a Christmas tradition for many local residents who are happy to buy a gift to place under the tree for people in need.
“This is a special time of year for many of us and it’s great to be able to spread the joy of Christmas by supporting the work of the Salvos and Mission Australia,” Ms Simpson said.
“I encourage you to donate to this worthy cause or purchase a gift for a local child or adult in need, including our Seniors.
“These organisations work hard all year to reach out to those in need and your gifts help make Christmas more special.”
The Kmart Wishing Tree has collected more than six million gifts for people in need over the past 27 years.
This year the Maroochydore store is aiming to collect over 3,000 gifts for local people.
You can buy a gift to place under the tree, make a donation at the checkout or online at www.Kmart.com.au/wishingtree.
