The unsung heroines of the Sunshine Coast community will receive the recognition they deserve thanks to local MP Fiona Simpson and a host of local companies who are seeking to honour the many local women who make a difference in the lives of others.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson today announced the names of the finalists of the inaugural Sunshine Coast Inspiring Women Awards.
Ms Simpson said there had been a fantastic response to the Sunshine Coast Inspiring Women Awards, with a host of great applications received for the four categories.
Finalists for the Community Leadership Award – sponsored by Think Money:

Bertha Jansen, Madonna Wakefield, Helen Irvine.
Ms Smpson said the winners will be announced at a Gala Presentation Dinner to be held on Friday 26 February at 6.30pm the Lake Kawana Community Centre in the lead up to International Women’s Day.
“I look forward to sharing the inspirational stories of special Sunshine Coast women – whether well-known in the community or unsung heroines, many have overcome adversity and are dedicated to investing into others and strengthening our local community,” Ms Simpson said.
Ms Simpson thanked the local business and not-for-profit community for coming together to sponsor and promote these awards.

Event co-ordinator Sue Frost of Inspire Connecting Communities has been delighted with the response to the awards.
“Tickets have been selling fast already and we’ve already had to move to a bigger venue and move the date forward to accommodate bookings for the event.” Ms Frost said.
