Maroochydore Road will receive a $2.4 million boost to improve the quality of the road surface making it a smoother, safer ride for motorists.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson and Member for Buderim Steve Dickson today announced that works along another two sections of Maroochydore Road would begin at the end of the month.
“The Newman Government is delivering on its election promise to deliver better infrastructure through better planning by funding $2.4 million worth of rehabilitation works” Ms Simpson said.
“The project will rehabilitate the east and westbound lanes of Maroochydore Road along two separate sections to the east and west of the Sunshine Motorway.
“Works will first be carried out between Martins Creek Bridge and Main Road/Jones Road to the west of the motorway, followed by a section from the Sunshine Motorway east to Main Road/Grieg Street.”
Steve Dickson said the project will remove the existing road surface and replace it with a new high-quality asphalt pavement.
“The works will ensure smoother and safer driving conditions for motorists and reduce future maintenance costs,” Mr Dickson said.
“This follows major rehabilitation works already carried out on Maroochydore Road from the Sunshine Homemaker Centre to Main Road/Grieg Street in 2012 and from the Sunshine Motorway west to Main Road/Jones Road in mid-2013.
“We thank motorists for their patience during this project.”
Residents will receive information from Transport and Main roads about the upcoming works.
The works are expected to be completed by mid-year.
To minimise daytime traffic disruptions, work will be carried out between 6pm and 6am, Sunday to Thursday. Motorists are encouraged to drive to the changed conditions and obey signage for their own safety and the safety of road workers.
Information about traffic disruptions will also be available from the 13 19 40 traffic report line and www.131940.qld.gov.au.
