On May 6 the State Government released the draft plan for comment for the M2M Cycleway through Alexandra Headland.
The design fails the test of making this area safer as it creates more conflict points for pedestrians by removing car parking east of Alexandra Parade and proposing chook-cage fencing up the middle of the centre islands.
We all want to see improved safety for cyclists and pedestrians and this plan doesn’t achieve that.
I’m working for community stakeholders to get their voice heard by Government to restart this process, reject the draft plan which would destroy the amenity and safety of this area, and come up with a plan that is good for all beach visitors.
Have your say on the Government’s consultation site https://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/Projects/Name/M/Mooloolaba-to-Maroochydore-Cycleway
and also let me know your views.
You may remember back in August last year before we had seen any plan I warned about the importance of getting this right https://youtu.be/Z6bCOYpoNv8 and have had a number of updates in this e-newsletter.
It’s vital that together with the people’s voices for all user groups we get this right to protect this precious area and improve it for all.
