Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson has welcomed a New Year funding boost of $150,000 for local community groups through the latest round of Gambling Community Benefit Fund grants.
Ms Simpson said six local groups had received a share of nearly $14 million from
2015’s first round of funding.
“Our community benefits from the amazing efforts of our hard working non-profit organisations who provide vital services to families, our elderly and even our furry friends too,” Ms Simpson said.
“I am committed to supporting them and ensuring they receive funding wherever possible.”
Successful organisations within the Maroochydore electorate include:
Mudjimba Residents’ Association will receive $34,980 to replace play equipment and soft-fall surface;
Smartpups Assistance Dogs for Special Needs Children will receive $31,808 to upgrade their facilities;
Clayden Potters & Associated Crafts Inc in Coolum will receive $35,000 to remove asbestos flooring and install kilns;
Maroochydore Hockey Club will receive $27,131 to purchase a mower and hockey goals;
The Mooloolaba Yacht Club will receive $15,080 to conduct a serve to sail program;
Guide Dogs for the Blind Association will receive $5,608 to purchase promotion
materials and equipment.
Ms Simpson said the quarterly grants support our local community groups and can be the difference between keeping these important services in our area and going without.
“The next funding round opens on 21 January and closes at midnight on 28 February,” Ms Simpson said.
“I encourage all local groups, however big or small, to apply for the next round of funding and make the most of this wonderful opportunity.”
