On 18 November it was the 50th Birthday of the State Emergency Service (SES) in Queensland. We marked the occasion on the Sunshine Coast with some of our heroes in orange who do amazing work. The SES is a lifeline for our community in disasters and emergencies and it was an honour to be part of their birthday celebrations. The recent storms are a reminder of just how integral they are to our community, responding to calls for help during the recent storms.
Quick fact… during the period of weather disasters earlier this year (28 Jan to 30 March) these amazing volunteers responded to 2,463 tasks on the Sunshine Coast… Thank you to all of those involved with the SES – we are very lucky to have you in our community.
