Our hard-working health workers know so much more must be done to fix the health crisis, as do patients.
The LNP team has held 34 Health Crisis Town Hall meetings across Queensland as part of hearing concerns and experiences with our health system and insights into the answers.
The latest data shows Queensland continues to have the worst ambulance ramping in the nation at 45 percent. It was only 15 percent when the Palaszczuk Labor Government was elected in 2015 and before COVID it had already doubled to 30 percent.
Nearly one in four emergency department patients are still not seen on time, while the surgical waiting list continues to climb and now sits at over 58,000. That’s almost double what it was in 2015.
In the first half of this year alone across Queensland ambulances spent over 85,000 hours ramped. This means paramedics and their patients have spent nearly 500 hours every day this year ramped at hospitals.
We know our doctors, nurses, allied health, and ambulance staff work tirelessly to hold our broken system together. They need better support, and the Palaszczuk Government needs to deliver it.
The only answer the Government has provided is a promise to build hospitals in seven years’ time.
The LNP has been working hand-in-hand with frustrated doctors, nurses and paramedics, to develop solutions to help give you the health system you deserve… these includes:
- Improving triaging when an ambulance is called and when a patient arrives at hospital.
- Better resources to improve the number of operational beds.
- Releasing real-time data on hospital performance to enable accountability.
- Empowering doctors and nurses on the front line to make decisions to improve patient care.
The Australian Medical Association Queensland is also calling for the above changes to be made.
We know these ideas alone will not fix the health crisis. But they are a start. Working with doctors, nurses, paramedics and allied health professionals the LNP will continue to develop solutions to heal our health system.

We will continue to fight for the change our state deserves.
