The Wellcamp Quarantine Facility or now known as ‘Wastecamp’, was revealed last week by the Palaszczuk Government to have cost Queensland taxpayers so far $237 million for a facility the State will never own.
Just 730 people have stayed at Wellcamp at a cost of $325,000 per person! This exorbitant waste could have paid for approximately:
- 870 social housing homes
- 2500 nurses
- 2300 teachers
- 2300 police officers
- 130 intensive care beds
- 950 ambulances
Someone in the Palaszczuk Government signed this dodgy deal. Someone in the Palaszczuk Government allowed this wasteful expenditure to go ahead. Someone in the Palaszczuk Government must take responsibility for this waste. These are questions that need to be asked.
A good plan for quarantine was vital. This wasn’t it.
Sadly for Queenslanders this is more poor planning, political games and an horrendous waste of taxpayer dollars by the Palaszczuk State Labor Government.
