The new design for the M2M Cycleway along the foreshore of Alexandra Headland based on community feedback has been released and is now available for review.
The Stage 6 design is from Mary Street at Alexandra Headland to Sixth Avenue at Maroochydore and it includes several options for the proposed 2km shared pathway for active transport users. It appears to be much better than the original, but your feedback is vital.
The pathway is part of an ongoing seven stage project and there is still much to do to make sure the designs enhance rather than hinder safety, access and amenity.
Other sections, such as Maroubra/Bungama Streets on Council Road, and the section over the Bluff at Alex, aren’t in this current project and are not funded. As the community knows, there are strong concerns in these areas as well about the potential impact if designs aren’t done correctly.
I would encourage you to view the layouts and choose your preferred option for key design elements along the route.
