The State Budget has assigned nearly $30 million for yet more Sunshine Coast Transport studies – with not one dollar to put a shovel in the ground.
So, the fight goes on to get the State Government to stop blocking and start building this rail link to Maroochydore and to ensure the $1.3 billion Federal funding which was assigned to help build this rail link is unfrozen and the State spends money on construction.
The broken promises are stacking up. The Palaszczuk Labor Government lied about forming an independent body to deliver the Olympics, lied about how much the Olympics would cost Queenslanders and is now back-pedalling as fast as it can go on delivering essential infrastructure for regional Queensland while blowing $2.7Billion on the Gabba without a public business case.
Heavy passenger rail to Maroochydore is necessary to support a sustainable transport network, and help take the pressure off the Bruce Highway today, even without the 2032 Olympics deadline.
