The Newman Government is delivering more police on the Sunshine Coast with 19 additional officers starting in the Sunshine Coast Police District since April 2012.
Police Minister Jack Dempsey said the results of the Queensland Police Service’s (QPS) massive recruitment drive had been seen across the State.
“In the last 12 months we have seen more than 300 additional police officers begin patrolling the beat across Queensland,” Mr Dempsey said.
“There are still more to come with an additional 267 police officers over and above attrition rates to be trained and head to the beat in the next 12 months.
“The State Government has committed to providing an additional 1,100 police officers over four years and we are delivering on that promise.
“For too long the former Labor Government let police dwindle to critical levels and we are working hard to fix that.
“The additional police officers will support the almost 11,000 hardworking officers already working in the QPS to ensure Queensland remains a safe place to live, work and play.”
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said the additional officers were welcomed in the region.
“Our police officers have always done a fantastic job protecting Sunshine Coast residents and these additional officers will help them continue that outstanding work,” Ms Simpson said.
“I urge everyone in our community to welcome these new police officers to the region.
“The Sunshine Coast is an excellent place to live and raise a family and these additional officers will ensure the area remains that way.”
