As work on the Maroochydore bus station progresses there will be changes to vehicle access at Sunseeker Parade near Sunshine Plaza.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said the changes were needed to allow for the safe operation of buses using the new northbound platform and to ensure pedestrian safety.
“Works at the Sunseeker Parade intersection near Sunshine Plaza would mean new right-in/left-out arrangements at the intersection,” Ms Simpson said.
“These changes will be staged and will come into effect over the coming weeks, with signage on-site to advise motorists.
The new right-in/left-out arrangement at Sunseeker Parade will see the following changes to turning movements at the intersection:
- no left turn from Horton Parade into Sunseeker Parade
- no right turn from Sunseeker Parade into Horton Parade
- no travel between Cornmeal Parade and Sunseeker Parade.
This will mean that vehicles travelling in a northbound direction along Horton Parade will not be able to turn left into Sunseeker Parade.
To access the banks and retail outlets in this location, they will need to use the Plaza Parade entrance, or alternatively make a U-turn on Horton Parade at the Big Top car park entrance so that they can turn right into Sunseeker Parade.
Ms Simpson said construction of the new Maroochydore bus station is progressing well since works began in mid-April.
“The majority of underground services have been installed and the footings for the new western platform are in place,” she said.
“Works will now begin at the Horton Parade intersection with Sunseeker Parade and at the bus stopping zones on both sides of Horton Parade.”
We thank motorists and the community for their cooperation and patience during works.
