Seven not-for-profit organisations in the Maroochydore electorate will be celebrating funding wins from latest quarterly round of the State Government Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said the funds totalling $137,378 would help these hardworking groups to continue their invaluable work in the local community.
Ms Simpson said that the groups represent the huge variety of not-for-profit groups who play a vital role in helping local residents to be active, healthy and connected in the community.
“I’m confident the funds will be put to good use in upgrading local school and sporting club facilities and providing vital equipment and transport for these hardworking group,” Ms Simpson said.
Successful organisations within the Maroochydore electorate were:
Pacific Paradise Bowls Club, $17,909 to upgrade facilities;
Mooloolaba State School, $27,272 to install lighting and stage curtains;
Guide Dogs for the Blind Sunshine Coast, $9,391 to purchase a freezer and coin sorter;
Kabi Kabi Aboriginal Corporation, $31,809 to purchase a vehicle;
Maroochy Little Athletics, $34,260 to install long jump track;
Volunteering Sunshine Coast, $8,636 to purchase training equipment;
Coolum Beach Junior Rugby League, $8,100 to purchase a LED scoreboard.
Ms Simpson encouraged all local groups to apply for the next round of funding before the end of November 2015.
