Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson today congratulated local sport and recreation clubs in the Maroochydore electorate for their successful bids for funding under the latest round of the State Government’s Get in the Game program.
Ms Simpson said that two North Shore Clubs would receive large grants to upgrade their facilities and 13 lucky local clubs would receive grants of up to $10,000 to purchase equipment and encourage more people to get
involved in sport and recreation.
“I’m always happy to see Club’s in my electorate receive a funding boost to help them continue the great work they are doing to build our local community and keep us fit and active,” Ms Simpson said.
“Huge congratulations to the Coolum & District Netball Association who will receive $39,732 to resurface courts and to the Colum Tennis Club who will receive $73,550 to upgrade their floodlights.”
The other successful grant applications are:
Maroochydore/Coolum Senior Rugby League Club – $3,312 to conduct coaching and training accreditation
for volunteers;
Sunshine Coast Churches Soccer Association – $7,500 to conduct a series of nine football clinics,
purchase football equipment and upskill coaches;
Sunshine Coast Lacrosse Club – $7,482 to conduct a six week introductory after school program
including advertising and promotion and to purchase equipment;
Alexandra Headland Surf Life Saving Club – $6,818 to purchase five modified rescue boards for
young people with a disability;
Coolum & District Netball Association – $7,500 to train volunteers in marketing, social
media and technology and provide umpire and coach mentoring;
Coolum Beach Junior Rugby League Club – $6,486 to conduct Sports Trainer courses and CPR
courses for volunteers and purchase equipment;
Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club – $7,500 to purchase two surf skis and one paddleboard;
Mudjimba Surf Life Saving Club – $6,720 to purchase equipment for nippers;
Sunshine Coast Futsal Association – $7,500 to train and mentor committee members in governance,
committee operations and financial management;
Sunshine Coast Tenpin Bowling Association – $6,650 to conduct a junior membership drive including training of coaches and purchase of $6500 worth of equipment;
The Mooloolaba Yacht Club – $7,500 to conduct a skills development and mentoring program for
women to foster leadership and crewing skills;
Suncoast Junior Motorcycle Club – $7,500 to train volunteers in governance, succession
planning, planning, financial management, fundraising, asset management,
risk management, marketing, grant writing and sponsorship;
The Scout Association of Australia, Queensland Branch – $6,431 to conduct training for youth leaders
and purchase equipment including GPS units, compasses, hiking flys and
radios.
