Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson has organised for Health Minister Lawrence Springborg to meet with AGL Rescue Helicopter concerning their future funding requirements.
Ms Simpson welcomed the opportunity for the Minister to visit the facility at the Sunshine Coast Airport and discuss the growing demand on their services, a meeting which will occur in the next two weeks.
“I organised this meeting with the Minister a week ago prior to the extent of the cost being known of the latest search and rescue mission. This latest tragic event of the plane crash which the service responded to so ably highlights again what a vital role they play,” Ms Simpson said.
“While the funding arrangement for this rescue helicopter service is based on long-standing government agreements, it is under review. I support this old funding agreement being overhauled for a new agreement which reflects the changes the service has had to adapt to over recent years.
