Traffic signals and improved pedestrian crossings on the two Mayfield Street intersections – at Alexandra Parade and Buderim Avenue/Pettigrew Street – are planned and your feedback on the design is sought.
The Department of Transport advises that the accident history in these locations has triggered the works.
As a popular beach destination with increasing traffic volumes and high pedestrian activity, improving safety and ease of movement at these intersections is important for the local community.
The proposed improvements include installing traffic signals at both intersections along with signalised pedestrian crossings. These upgrades will provide safer turning and crossing opportunities, simplify movements through the intersections and help manage growing traffic demands.
Have a look at the plans and provide local insights via the link below to help inform the final design. The feedback received will be considered alongside technical assessments, design standards, costs, and social and environmental factors to inform the project’s design.
Community feedback will be open for three weeks from 21 April to 12 May 2026.
