The Sunshine Coast’s biggest rail bottleneck will be fixed under the LNP’s plan to duplicate the Sunshine Coast train line, starting in 2015/2016.
The $532 million project is the biggest and best breakthrough for Sunshine Coast public transport since the 1880s.
The duplication of the rail from Beerburrum to Landsborough will provide 3000 jobs during construction and an extra 150 weekly services delivering a boost to the Sunshine Coast's public transport network.
Our whole region will benefit from this as it will unlock the bottlenecks in the public transport network and improve connections within the region and to Brisbane.
Labor canned the rail upgrade only three weeks after the 2009 State election and then racked up $80 billion of debt with not much to show for it.
Together with my Sunshine Coast Colleagues, we have worked hard to make this our number one priority infrastructure project – and the Premier and Transport Minister supported this cause.
But this vital infrastructure project will only possible because of the State Government's “Strong Choices”
plan and by voting LNP at the next election.
