Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson today welcomed news of further funding wins for sporting and recreation clubs in the Maroochydore electorate.
Ms Simpson said that many clubs in her electorate had been successful in gaining grants of up to $10,000 for equipment and activities to increase membership in the first round of the State Government’s Get Going program.
“Local clubs will benefit from new equipment, activities and promotions to help boost membership numbers and get more people active on the Sunshine Coast,” Ms Simpson said.

This funding is in addition to almost $31,000 in funding paid out to two Coolum Clubs last week through the first round of the Get Playing funding to improve facilities and infrastructure.
Last week the Coolum and District Netball Association received $26,000 to install shade structures and the Coolum Croquet Club received $4,900 grant to help install irrigation on their croquet lawns under the State Government’s program.
Acting Sport and Recreation Minister Tracy Davis today announced that 475 Queensland clubs would receive grants in the first round of the State Government’s $18 million funding program aimed at getting more young people playing sport and getting involved in recreation activities.
Ms Davis said organisations across Queensland, ranging from cricket and AFL through to tennis and dirt bike clubs had been successful in gaining grants of up to $10,000 through Get Going.
