All five state schools in the Maroochydore electorate have won almost $800,000 in funding to boost students’ learning, following the announcement of a new education program, Great Results Guarantee.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said it is part of the State Government’s commitment to better student outcomes.
“We want every student in Queensland to benefit from a quality education experience so that they are well equipped to enter further education, training and employment.
“This is about investing in our future, our children, and ensuring that Queensland remains a great state with great opportunity for generations to come.”
Ms Simpson said that principals, in consultation with their school communities, would be able to develop a plan on how to spend the money to achieve better student outcomes.
“For example, a school may decide to provide after school numeracy tutoring, reading workshops for parents or coaching to help improve teachers’ skills in delivering programs for students with a disability.”
“We are encouraging parents and carers to be part of this process and set their expectations for what they want their children to achieve,” Ms Simpson said.
