Thanks for your feedback about the proposed Alexandra Headland to Maroochydore 3 metre-wide $6.7million M2M Cycleway. This project’s success will depend on whether the Government listens to concerns about all users in this space. I expect there will be further public consultation with a proposed design being released next year.
Local residents are asking for more information and for their say to be taken into account on this part of the cycleway which is fair enough. They have a right to know what is planned and what the potential impacts may be on loss of on-street parking or what the alternatives may be.

The cycleway will be delivered in seven stages. Stage 6, from Mary Street at Alexandra Headland, to Sixth Avenue at Maroochydore has been identified as a high priority.
The stages of the M2M cycleway are:
Stage 1 – Mooloolah River, Mooloolaba, to Amarina Avenue, Mooloolaba (to be delivered by TMR).
Stage 2 – Amarina Avenue, Mooloolaba, to Foote Street, Mooloolaba (completed by Council)
Stage 3 – Foote Street, Mooloolaba, to the Mooloolaba Foreshore Precinct (to be delivered by Council)
Stage 4 – Mooloolaba Foreshore Precinct, from Foote Street to Venning Street, Mooloolaba (to be delivered by Council).
Stage 5 – Venning Street, Mooloolaba, to Mary Street, Alexandra Headland (to be delivered by TMR).
Stage 6 – Mary Street, Alexandra Headland, to Sixth Avenue, Maroochydore (to be delivered by TMR).
Stage 7 – Maroubra Street, Maroochydore, to Maud Street, Maroochydore (Council delivering)
However one of the issues raised has been about when Council will consult on Stage 7 along Bungama Street and Maroubra Street to the new Maroochydore CBD. Currently Council is saying they don’t intend to take this public until mid-2020 which I think is too late. I will keep pursuing this with Council.
