There continues to be a lot of controversy over the proposed mass transit plan (possible light rail) between Maroochydore and Caloundra. The State Government and Council have funded a business case with consultation currently getting underway. This mass transit proposal does not taken into account the extra traffic congestion there will be if you take lanes of traffic out of those corridors. The money needs to be put into the right planning and get on with building the right infrastructure and that requires an integrated transport plan that also addresses road congestion and cars.
As part of my Address in Reply in Parliament this week I addressed the Mass Transit scheme on the Sunshine Coast, to view this please click on the video below.
How can you have your say? At this stage the Sunshine Coast Regional Council public consultation process will commence mid-late March and run for a minimum of 6 weeks. It is important that everyone participates in this by completing a submission to Council. I will keep you informed when this happens.
