Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) is beginning the first stage of their consultation with stakeholders over the future design and solutions for Mooloolaba Harbour entrance. The first stage involves a small number of key stakeholders, including the Coast Guard, Commercial Fishers and Harbour Business Owners and this group is called the Community Reference Group (CRG). However, MSQ advise they will consult the wider community later this year.
We still haven’t seen the timeline for the whole process from consultation to funding decision and potential implementation which is why I believe it is important that more information is released with timely and open consultation with the stakeholders and the community, so the right solutions are chosen and the process is transparent. I will keep pursuing this as the public have a right to know.
