New figures released this month reveal the social housing waiting list in the Maroochydore electorate has decreased by 40 per cent since the election of the Newman Government.
The number of households waiting for social housing assistance in the Maroochydore electorate had been cut to its lowest level in five years.
55 households were waiting for public housing assistance when the current government took office in March 2012. Thanks to more new dwellings, better waiting list management and greater awareness of alternative types of housing assistance, we’ve managed to bring the waiting list down to around 332 households as at January 2014.
The State Government’s Housing 2020 Strategy emphasizes giving people options and helping them access private rental accommodation through interest free bond loans.
