Education Funding wins

The State Government is focused on improving education outcomes for our children by increasing spending on education by $707 million, delivering 724 new teachers and support staff.   State schools in the Maroochydore electorate have received almost $800,000 in funding to boost students’ learning, following the announcement of a new education program, Great Results Guarantee.

This gives principals, in consultation with their school communities, the ability to develop a plan on how to spend the money on programs such as after school numeracy tutoring and reading workshops.

Our local schools have also benefited from over a million dollars in funding over the last two years to help clear maintenance back-logs under the Advancing Our Schools Maintenance initiative.

Local school Principals have told me that they are very happy with being able to manage their own maintenance budgets and use local contractors to get better value for money on jobs like painting, carpeting, renovation works and getting toilets refurbished.
