Delivering faster payments to businesses working with the State Government is part of our plan to support small businesses to grow and employ more Queenslanders.
As Shadow Minister for Small Business, I was delighted to announce the LNP’s plan with Leader Deb Frecklington at a breakfast held in Brisbane as part of Small Business Week.
Small businesses account for more than 97% of all businesses in Queensland and employ approximately 44% of all private sector workers.
Efficient cash-flow is crucial for the stability and growth of small businesses. The LNP’s Fair Pay Policy will cut payment times from 30 days to 20 days for government contracts to help businesses to organise their plans, hire more Queenslanders and invest in more opportunities – knowing they’ll be paid sooner rather than later.
The LNPs plan also includes a commitment to reduce red tape by 20 per cent over six years to allow businesses to spend less time complying with paperwork and more time focused on creating jobs..
In contrast the Labor Government has made it harder for Queensland businesses by introducing new taxes and increasing red tape.
As a result, business confidence levels are at their lowest since 2016, according to this month’s CCIQ pulse survey.
