Local drivers have the chance to Join the Drive to save lives by taking part this year’s Christmas road safety message.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said that film crews will be in Mooloolaba at the Mantra Sirocco Resort, on Thursday 21st November from 9.00 am to 10.30 am to record feedback from the community for the State Government’s new advertising campaign.
“Film crews are travelling around the state interviewing Queenslanders about what we can do as individuals to improve safety on our roads,” Ms Simpson said.
“Rather than showing graphic images of road crash scenes, the State Government wants to hear real stories from real people in a campaign designed to engage with drivers.
“Research shows that drivers are becoming desensitised to shock advertising with almost most half of those surveyed unable to recall the safety messages in these ads.
“I would encourage people to share their thoughts and ideas about how we can all work together to improve safety on our roads.”
Messages provided by everyday Queenslanders will appear on television, radio and online over the Christmas holidays from mid-December.
“You can get involved by uploading messages to the campaign website www.qld.gov.au/jointhedrive, or sharing content, or a simple ‘like’ via social media.
“When it comes to road safety, we all have a role to play. So get involved and join the drive to save lives this Christmas.”
