I was privileged to meet with a number of young people during Queensland’s Women’s Week 2021 (QWW) at a local school as part of those celebrations.
My job as guest speaker was hopefully to encourage and inspire them to shine as a young leaders who can help unlock the potential of others and have the courage and kindness to care for each other and their world – we sure need them!
There’s been a lot of media surrounding women, equality and the justice system. We should always fight to support keeping women and men safe, particularly children who have even less of a voice and ability to advocate for themselves. Justice and truth matter.
And the truth is that too many children are subject to child abuse today and rely on governments to keep them safe due to the breakdown in their family.
I commend the courage of my colleague Ros Bates, our Shadow Minister for Health in the LNP, who has told her story and is a powerful and passionate advocate to keep children safe, and to address DV which is no respecter of class or position. If you’d like to hear more, click here.
She inspires me as do the many others who have overcome great obstacles in their own lives and who advocate to keep children safe and to address DV.
