The State Government is urging bus users to have their say about proposed changes to some of the Sunshine Coast bus routes and timetables as part of the South East Queensland bus network review, Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said today.
Suggested changes can now be viewed on the TransLink website (www.translink.com.au) are bus users are able to provide their feedback on-line until 16 December.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said the network review is part of the LNP Government’s plan to build a better bus network and to get people back onto public transport by improving frequency, reliability and affordability.
The recommendations suggest increased frequency in some services as well route changes to reduce duplication; adjustments to timetables and a reduction of services on routes with very low patronage.
“This is the second round of consultation so passengers are encouraged to have their say before the final plan is released,” Ms Simpson said.

“I’m pleased to see that services are to be re-routed to accommodate the new Homemaker Centre and other developments in Maroochy Boulevard,” Ms Simpson said.
“There are also plans to remove services 601 and 613 and which have very low patronage levels,” Ms Simpson said.
“Route 620 may be changed to cover some of route 613 which runs between Twin Waters and Maroochydore.”
The LNP Government made the decision to review bus services after four years of declining patronage under Labor.
Some of the changes being proposed for the Sunshine Coast include:
· Increasing the frequency on route 600 (Maroochydore to Caloundra)

· Realignment of a number of services to properly utilise the Maroochydore bus station when it opens next year
· Expanding services into new development areas of Maroochydore
· Improved local services in Sippy Downs (University of Sunshine Coast) and Pelican Waters
· Removal of duplication in services such as 605 (Landsborough to Kawana) and 610 (Nambour to Kawana)
· Removal of under-performing routes 601 (Maroochydore to Caloundra) and 613 (Maroochydore to Twin Waters)
