The Queensland Government has approved funding of $28,542 for two sports club in Coolum and Mudjimba after flooding and storm damage earlier in the year. Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said the clubs would receive the funding under the Sport and Recreation Disaster Recovery Program. “A number of our local sport and recreation clubs were impacted by the storms, heavy rain and floods earlier in the year. This money will help them to recover and rebuild essential sporting infrastructure and equipment.” Sport Minister Steve Dickson said the funding program would reinstate damaged facilities and help to get clubs back on their feet and operating normally. Sporting clubs approved to receive disaster relief funds include: Coolum Football Club Inc. – $24,927 to repair damaged lighting cables and club facilities North Shore Multisports Association Inc.- $3615 to repair sporting field lighting and electrical equipment.
