Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson welcomed news that local primary schools in her electorate would benefit from new funding to support literacy and numeracy programs over the next four years.
Ms Simpson said the Getting the Basics Right – Literacy and Numeracy grants are a welcome funding boost to help children on the right track for future learning success.
Ms Simpson said the first round of grants would be awarded to the following schools before the end of the school year:
Coolum State School $3,665
Maroochydore State School $1,638
Mooloolaba State School $2,272
Pacific Paradise State School $9,251
“Schools will be able to use this funding to tailor programs to their specific needs,” Ms Simpson said.
“The amount of funding that each school will receive is based on needs, rather than enrolment figures.”
“This will enable schools to deliver improved outcomes in literacy and numeracy for students from Prep to Year 2,” Ms Simpson said.
