Sunshine 60 and Better Group will receive $230,023 after securing funding from the Queensland Government. The funding is part of the Government’s commitment to deliver Seniors Participation and Support Programs.
Member for Maroochydore, Fiona Simpson has welcomed the funding and thanked Sunshine 60 and Better organisers and participants who work together to keep seniors fit, active and connected.
“This funding will help this group to continue to contribute to our community,” Ms Simpson said.
“How we encourage our seniors to remain active and healthy into retirement is an important issue and Sunshine 60 Group does much to address this.”
The Group was founded in 1994 to proactively address Queensland’s rapidly ageing population by empowering senior citizens to remain active in their community.
President Heather Myers was delighted the group will be receiving funding.
“The funding means we’ll be able to continue our programs for another 12 months,” Ms Myers said.
“From craft groups and belly dancing to one on one computer classes, all our programs are aimed at supporting healthy living and an active lifestyle.
