The Coolum Men’s Shed is set to receive a funding boost for a new shed if an LNP Government is re-elected.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said Coolum Men’s Shed will receive funding as part of her local plan for the Maroochydore electorate which covers the Coolum district.
“Under the LNP, Coolum Men’s Shed secured a new site in the Coolum industrial estate and I am delighted to be able to support them as they work towards building a new shed,” Ms Simpson said.
“Mens’ Sheds are a fantastic way for retired men to continue to put their skills to good use while staying active and connected with other blokes.
“Now that we have a new site for the Coolum group, I am delighted to commit funding under my local plan to help them build a new shed.”
The new 660m2 site is located on Research Street, Coolum and is owned by Economic Development
Queensland (EDQ).
Coolum Men’s Shed President Trevor Ryan was delighted with news of the funding.
Mr Ryan said that construction of the shed is expected to cost approximately $78,000 plus fit out and amenities.
“Now we won’t have to worry about how we can raise the money and we can hopefully move forward quickly with this project,” Mr Ryan said.
The LNP Newman government will invest $75,000 towards the cost of a new shed if re-elected.
