Kids just wanna have fun while playing soccer on the new inflatable field at Coolum Football Club, State MP Fiona Simpson discovered today.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson was visiting the Coolum Football Club today to see firsthand how State Government funding was being put to good use to encourage younger kids to play sport.
The inflatable field was purchased as part of an $8800 grant from the Queensland Government’s “Get in the Game” program which is designed to boost club membership and encourage more junior participation in sports.
Coolum Football Club’s Grants Officer Lance Seabrook said the inflatable field will be used for major football events at school promotion days and junior carnival days to show young people how much fun sports can be.
Fiona Simpson said she was delighted to see funding wins for sports and recreation clubs in the Maroochydore electorate.
“Clubs in my electorate have been successful in gaining funds totalling more than $247,000 in the first two rounds of Get in the Game funding,” Ms Simpson said.
“These funds have been used by local clubs to improve facilities and infrastructure, to buy new equipment and to run activities and promotions to get more people active on the Sunshine Coast.”
Ms Simpson encouraged sports and recreation clubs to be ready to get their funding applications in for the upcoming funding round to make sure they don’t miss out.
