Local MPs Fiona Simpson and Steve Dickson rolled up their sleeves today to launch the “Our Kitchen Rules” lunch in support of Maroochydore Meals on Wheels Seniors Week celebrations.
Fiona Simpson and Steve Dickson have provided the funding to sponsor the free celebration lunch for local senior citizens to be held in Maroochydore on Wednesday 19 August at 11am.
The “Our Kitchen Rules” lunch will be catered by Maroochydore Meals on Wheels for all Senior Citizens at the George Street Community Centre as part of the annual Seniors Week celebrations
Entertainment will be provided by the Sunshine Coast Brass Band.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said that Seniors Week was an important opportunity to join together and celebrate the valuable role seniors play in our families and communities.
“Honouring our older citizens’ achievements and the special contribution they make to our pass on their knowledge, skills and experience to others,” Ms Simpson said.
Member for Buderim Steve Dickson acknowledged that many Seniors are actively involved in
our communities as volunteers.
“Our senior citizens have worked hard to build our economy, raise their families and serve our nation and our local community and they should be acknowledged and thanked for all they have done,” Mr Dickson said.
Manager of Maroochydore Meals on Wheels Hamish Ogg thanked the Members of Parliament for
funding the lunch and for their continued support throughout the year.
“Both Steve and Fiona have been out on rounds with our volunteers delivering meals to our elderly clients in their homes and Meals on Wheels appreciate their support for this important community service,” Mr Ogg said..
