Coast to host our first IRONMAN 70.3 in September

The Sunshine Coast is building on its superb reputation as a world class sporting event destination with the announcement of the inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 to be held in Mooloolaba on 15 September 2013.

This is great news for tourism operators and local businesses who look to gain in excess of $3 million each year for the next three years that the event is scheduled to run here.

The 70.3 is the fastest-growing triathlon series in the world and this event fits in perfectly with along with the hugely popular Noosa, Mooloolaba and Caloundra Triathlons and the Sunshine Coast Marathon.

Tourism and Events Queensland have worked closely with the Sunshine Coast Council to secure this event for the Sunshine Coast.

The event is anticipated to generate an additional 20,000 visitor nights a year for the Coast as well as giving us the opportunity to showcase our very special part of the world to the international tourism market.
