I am concerned that Sunshine Coast residents are facing another price slug on their water bills to pay for Labor Government’s $9 billion SEQ water grid which they built without a business plan and huge cost blowouts.
I am concerned about the impact this will have on local households who are already struggling with soaring power prices and a 400% increase in bulk water prices over the last 10 years.
I have called on the Premier to reject the $79 price hike (which is three times the rate of inflation) over the next three years which the Queensland Competition Authority has recommended.
Queenslanders can’t afford higher water bills and the Labor Government needs to be held to its promise not to increase water prices.
