It’s a big job turning around Labor’s youth crime crisis after their decade in Government. However early police data since our Making Queensland Safer Laws were introduced, suggest stronger laws are beginning to deter youth crime.
On the Sunshine Coast and in the Wide Bay, there have been 120 fewer stolen cars in the last three months, compared to the same time last year.
While it’s early days, this data shows we are on the right path but there is much more to be done, which is why the next round of Adult Crime, Adult Time offences will be an important next step.
It will take time to turn the tide on Labor’s Youth Crime Crisis, which was a decade in the making.
After the weak laws created a generation of serious youth offenders, it will take time to restore safety, but we are committed to driving down the number of victims of crime.
As we have promised, we will continue to strengthen our laws to make our community safer.
