The LNP will deliver the Sunshine Coast Heavy Passenger Rail all the way to Maroochydore by 2032, if elected this month.
Unlike Labor, who have admitted they will end the rail line at Caloundra which will make the ‘Caloundra Carpark’ worse, the LNP will ensure heavy passenger rail is built all the way to Maroochydore, in time for the 2032 Olympic Games.
The commitment will deliver on a critical transport connection outlined in the 2032 Games bid and is a significant infrastructure investment for the Sunshine Coast which will save commuters precious time and ease traffic on overcrowded roads.
LNP Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said after a decade in power, Queenslanders know they can’t trust Labor to deliver the infrastructure needed for our growing State.
“If elected in October, the LNP will build this project all the way to Maroochydore, because the Sunshine Coast has been neglected by Labor for far too long,” Ms Simpson said.
“We are determined to make sure that Sunshine Coast Heavy Passenger Rail goes all the way to Maroochydore and delivers a generational infrastructure legacy for the Coast.”
LNP Deputy Leader Jarrod Bleijie said the Sunshine Coast Heavy Passenger Rail was a golden opportunity for a growing region, and only the LNP would deliver the congestion-busing project.
“The LNP will link Beerwah to Caloundra to Kawana to Maroochydore and deliver the infrastructure needed for Queensland’s future, by delivering the line all the way to Maroochydore,” Mr Bleijie said.
“Under Labor, Caloundra will be the end of the line and become the carpark of the Sunshine Coast.
“We will not stand by and watch Caloundra become a carpark while the rest of the Sunshine Coast gets shortchanged.”
