Six volunteer and community groups in the Maroochydore electorate will share in $23,592 in funding from the Queensland Government to purchase essential equipment to continue their good work helping others.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said this first round of the $4 million Caring for our Community grants program was delivering on a Newman Government election promise and recognised the valuable contribution community groups and their volunteers to better communities across Queensland.
“The rollout of these grants is good news for our local community groups and community members,” Ms Simpson said.
“These grants provide a fantastic opportunity to improve community facilities.”
“A small funding boost like this can go a long way to upgrade basic resources like computers or fridges for our community groups and their volunteers.”
Communities Minister Tracy Davis said supporting community groups was a Queensland Government priority.
“I am confident that these Caring for our Community grants will help these local organisations continue to deliver benefits to even more Queenslanders,” Ms Davis said.
“Caring for Our Community program is one of our commitments to the people of Queensland and the Newman Government is proud to be delivering on our promise to support our communities.”
