Aroona Station preliminary works have commenced beside the Parklands Shopping Centre.
The new Aroona Station site geotechnical investigations started in March with full station construction expected to commence in 2027, subject to various regulatory approvals. Aroona Station is part of Stages 1 and 2 rail component that will connect with Stage 3 Metro to Maroochydore and on to the Sunshine Coast Airport. The Sunshine Coast Metro will connect Birtinya to Australia’s largest greenfield CBD development at Maroochydore and onto the airport, offering swift, frequent journeys with sustainable and smooth metro-style vehicles.
This is one of the largest legacy infrastructure financial commitments that the Sunshine Coast has seen and will revolutionise public travel for the Sunshine Coast. It is in addition to the Mooloolah River Interchange upgrade where work is also underway under the Crisafulli Government.
