Local community organisations in the Maroochydore electorate are about to receive their share of the latest round of State Government Community Grants.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said the grants were a significant financial injection to local hardworking not-for-profit groups and allowed dedicated volunteers to focus on continuing their good work.
“Our local groups play a huge role in our communities and need our support,” Ms Simpson said.
This welcome funding boost is delivered through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, and the Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund (JCCBF to ensure they can continue their invaluable work within their community.
Successful organisations within the Maroochydore electorate were:
· Surf Life Saving Queensland Sunshine Coast, $24,454 to upgrade facilities;
· North Shore Community Centre, $11,567 to purchase furniture and equipment;
· Coolum District Coast Care Group, $9,727 to replace nesting boxes
· Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, $5,000 to purchase a tandem bicycle and $1,381 to purchase other equipment.
Ms Simpson encouraged all local groups to apply for the next round of funding before the end of August 2014. For more information on the grants, please visit www.olgr.qld.gov.au and click on ‘Grants’.
