Sunshine Coast community and volunteer groups will share in more than $1.5 million of state government funding to help them purchase essential items and equipment.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said the latest funding round of the Caring for our Community program was delivering on the Queensland Government’s election promise to revitalise frontline services.
Ms Simpson said that six organisations in the Maroochydore electorate will benefit from funding totalling $37,457 to help purchase much-needed equipment like computers, camping gear, white goods, musical instruments or furniture.
“Community and volunteer organisations play an important role in growing our local communities, so it’s important that we support them with funding for vital equipment,” Ms Simpson said.
“A small amount of money can go a long way to help our local clubs to improve local community facilities and upgrade essential equipment.
The 2013-14 Caring for our Community Grant recipients in the Maroochydore electorate are:
Marcoola Surf Life Saving Club – $4,750
IFYS Limited – $4,975
ASD Care – $19,482
Australian Outrigger Canoe Racing Assoc – $5,000
Special Olympics Australia – $3250
